Export to CSV or JSON

Settings → Export. Choose a form, a format, and optionally a date range or status. The file downloads in your browser.

The Export Data page under Settings, with a form picker, a choice of CSV or JSON, and filters for date range and status.
Export is per form. Select several records in the records table and use Export selected for a subset.

CSV

One row per record, one column per field, headed by the field key. Meant for a spreadsheet, Power BI, or loading into a database table.

  • Choice fields hold the stored value. A second column with the label is included where one exists.
  • Dates are ISO 8601: 2026-09-03, 2026-09-03T14:22:00Z.
  • A repeatable section is one column holding its rows as JSON. If you need the rows as rows, export JSON instead and flatten them, or export the child form if the section is a subform.
  • Photographs and files are not in the file; their storage paths are.

JSON

An array of records, each with its metadata (id, status, who, when, location) and a data object keyed by field key. Repeatable sections are arrays of objects. This is the format that preserves everything.

Exporting from the records table

Tick rows and choose Export selected to export a subset. The same formats apply.

Exporting through the API

The same export is available as a call, for scripts that need a file rather than rows — see The API.

Regular exports

Export is on demand. For something that runs on a schedule, use the API from a scheduled job, or a Google Sheet that stays current on its own.
